About your stay
Your getaway starts the moment you arrive at Pickwell. You’ll get your own parking spot with a wooden hut that contains a wheelbarrow for your luggage (if you need it), and a lantern to help light your way at night in the woods. Staircases also have discreet built-in lighting to give you a helping hand at night amid the famously dark, starry skies of North Devon.
Discover your treehouse
Follow the trail into the woods and discover your treehouse waiting for you, its lights twinkling through the trees. There’s a winding wooden staircase up to an entrance deck and your front door. On the deck of each of our three treehouses you’ll find a bubbling hot tub waiting for you (The Den also has its own sauna), with water filled from our own natural spring and heated to a Goldilocks temperature of just-right by our solar array.
Here you’ll find everything you need for a couple of days of recharging your body and mind. A heavenly haven for you awaits inside, small enough to be intimate but large enough to feel luxurious. The open plan interiors of all our treehouses are handcrafted from larch and pine, using only sustainable trees indigenous to this country.
Our Boltholes
You’ll find Amity at the end of its own private garden, tucked away at the side of the manor. In a house full of surprising hidden gems, this gorgeous beach hut-style hideaway is one of our favourites. The Chapel has its own front door and entrance in the house’s courtyard, perfect to whisk your loved one off to a restored 16th-century chapel for a few days away. Both have private hot tubs and are the perfect getaway for couples who want to enjoy their privacy whilst enjoying the estates facilities.
Everything you need
Each treehouse has a luxury King-Size bed, and The Den also has additional adult-length bunk beds. We want you to stretch out and feel at home, so each treehouse has a full-length wardrobe plus a proper kitchen and a living area with your very own woodburner. There’s also a shower room and loo.
All our treehouses open out onto a large seated balcony with views down to the sea. So you can sit out under the North Devon sky and enjoy simple pleasures like the sounds of the ocean waves down on the beach below, and the sight of the dark night sky full of stars, far away from city lights.
Dog Friendly
We know that four-legged friends need a holiday too. So Pickwell offers dog-friendly accommodation in The Hideaway, The Loft and The Den treehouses as well as our bolthole, Amity. As you can imagine, our scenic location is ideal for dog-friendly holidays with easy access to plenty of stunning walks across nearby beaches and the rolling expanses of nearby Exmoor national park.
If you are bringing your dog/s please let us know and we wil provide water/food bowl, poo bags, and a dog blanket. All our treehouses have an enclosed terrace for your dog to be free and off the lead.
The Chapel is not dog friendly.
In return we ask the following of all our dog owners:
Dogs must always be kept on leads within the grounds, and please keep them off the lawns.
You must clean up after your dog - poo bags are provided. Please only dispose of these in the bin area.
Dogs must not be left on their own in the apartments.
Please keep your pets off the furniture and beds.
We LOVE to see your pictures of your pets shared on social media, don’t forget to tag us into any posts!
*Pickwell is a firework-free zone.
